Antique MAHOGANY WOOD Butler's OVAL SERVING TRAY Inlay CRESCENT MOON Federal

I'm pleased to offer this "Antique". MAHOGANY WOOD Brass Handled BUTLER'S SERVING TRAY. OVAL in shape, it measures 23" long X 14-1/2" wide X 2-1/2 high, including the handles. Circa 1800's, this sleek Federal design breakfast or tea tray is beautifully made of dark mahogany. It features BRASS METAL HANDLES and a "unique" inlaid wood CRESCENT MOON at the center (see images).

With no markings as to the maker; the raised gallery border edge of the tray is unfortunately "long gone". The existing stepped rim however actually appears to be a nicely finished edge just as it is (see images). Minor scuffs in the wood are commensurate with age and a tiny stress line at one of the handles does not effect overall integrity (see images).

Great as a functional curio display such as a wall hanging etc, OR perfectly suitable for use as as designed.
