FEATURED: A very striking Mid Century serving tray by the famous COUROC OF MONTEREY, California company, this elegant SUN KING design, with a nod to those wonderful Mexican Aztec Sun God faces we all love, is the perfect item to have for any sort of entertaining, be it food, beverage, or as cool Mid Century wall art once you're done with your party! We loved the elaborate flames coming out around the face, and the exotic detailed design framing the center image, and those mysterious eyes this face has! Couroc, known for their simple, eye-catching, whimsical, iconic Mid Century artwork in the centers of their amazing trays, has once again created something timeless, very Mid Century, which can be enjoyed for many decades in one's home. This Phenolic plastic, a relative of Bakelite, was developed by Guthrie Courvoisier for his company, is a proprietary plastic, able to withstand a lot of parties and wildness, cleans up beautifully with just a little soap and water, is food safe, impervious to alcohol, cigarette burns, and boiling water, and will just go on forever hosting your parties, events, and always be willing to help make your life and entertaining so much easier and stylish, every time. The Couroc motto was any tray can serve a drink.
Only Couroc can start a conversation, and indeed with this very handsome tray, that is just so true, and you will find your friends wishing they'd found it first! Guthrie developed this proprietary plastic, whose base was the same as the famous Bakelite, and Moira was the chief designer for the firm. Their designs incorporated materials from the natural world, such as leaves, bark, plants, shells & ocean items, small industrial objects, coins, brass, crystals, etc. Creating the iconic Mid Century images out of those bits and pieces for both homeowners and corporate accounts, such as we have here, where this wonderful tray was a presentation item for a member of the'Century Club' at a firm, IDS, in May, 1970. Already fifty years old and showing no signs of age or wear, this terrific addition to your kitchen or entertainment area will be something you reach for regularly and enjoy having on hand all year long.MEASURES: 17.75 inches wide by 12.25 inches tall, with a great 1 inch rolled lip, and its original foil label on the back, this black Phenolic tray was made by hand, by artists at Couroc of Monterey, using brass strips and real California wood, into the plastic and then laminated under pressure to make a permanent smooth bond and beautiful artistic design. This tray will not warp, is very sturdy, can handle the wildest of parties, is food safe for those cocktail nibbles, pizza, ribs, cakes, etc.
And of course your drinks! A little soap & water, and a drying towel, and your cleanup of this is done! We've seen these up on walls in man caves and bar areas, too, as wall art when they're not being used- they are, after all, great iconic Mid Century artwork from those golden days of great home entertaining and fabulous style some of us recall! This is the tray you have been looking for, and we hope you enjoy it for many decades to come! We pack your valuables with care for safety and security.
