A gorgeous, exotic wood inlay, oval tray from Sorrento, Italy with blue background. The tray, 20" wide by 12" deep and 1 high, is in good, estate condition. My wife and I visited the Sorrento factory in the 1980's... They specialized in music boxes, and some smaller pieces of furniture... Their hand work is known world-wide for the intricate inlays of exotic veneers and hand-rubbed lacquer finish.

I found this tray at an estate sale in CT and was blown away by the color... The background is dyed blue, figured veneer with a floral center surrounded by beautiful scrolling... Really stunning and I've never seen one in my 50 years in the antique business.
